    Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.

In Illinois, the latest road conditions are available at gettingaroundillinois.com. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.

Friends of the Library Hog Days Book Sale on August 30, 2025, and Library Holiday Hours

Book lovers can mark their calendars for the annual Friends of the Library Hog Days Book Sale, happening Saturday, August 30th. The event runs from 7 to 11 am in the parking lot of Johnson’s Appliance. It’s a great opportunity to browse a wide selection of titles and support your local library. In conjunction with the holiday weekend, the KPLD building will be closed both Saturday, August 30th, and Monday, September 1st, in observance of Labor Day. Regular hours resume on Tuesday, September 2nd, from 9 AM to 6 PM.
