GAF has made a significant investment in local education by contributing $5,000 to the Illinois Valley Community College Foundation. This donation will establish two annual scholarships specifically for students training to become electricians. Beginning with the 2025 academic year, the funds are intended to help offset tuition and related expenses for eligible applicants. The partnership highlights GAF’s ongoing commitment to workforce development and supporting future skilled trades professionals within the region. Organizers from both GAF and the college say the initiative will help meet industry demand for electricians while providing valuable opportunities for students in the Illinois Valley area.

“GAF is proud to support IVCC students through this scholarship,” said Gary Ashley, GAF-Peru plant manager. “We recognize the financial challenges many students face, and this partnership is one way we can help them achieve their goals. Supporting the communities where we live and work is a core part of who we are at GAF.”

“When businesses invest in scholarships through the IVCC Foundation, they are not just giving back – they are shaping the future workforce and strengthening communities,” said Tracy Beattie, Executive Director of the Foundation. “We are deeply grateful to GAF and the many businesses that so generously support our students and their futures.”

GAF, North America’s largest roofing and waterproofing manufacturer, is expanding its local presence in Peru with the recent opening of a commercial roofing manufacturing plant. This move is part of its GAF Community Matters initiative, which aims to support resilient neighborhoods by sharing roofing knowledge, products, and resources. The program demonstrates GAF’s commitment to being not just an industry leader but also a dedicated neighbor and partner. With 31 locations nationwide, GAF hopes these efforts will strengthen community infrastructure and improve safety and quality of life for residents, while reinforcing the importance of corporate responsibility in building stronger towns.
