Crews from all three Galesburg fire stations responded to a house fire at 835 South Chambers Street just after 6 p.m. last night. Arriving to find smoke billowing from the windows, firefighters quickly entered the story-and-a-half residence, extinguishing the blaze and conducting thorough searches for any occupants. Additional off-duty personnel were called in to ensure continued emergency coverage across the city. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among firefighters or residents. Investigators from the Galesburg Police Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are now working to determine the cause of the fire, which remains under investigation.
