Galesburg Man Charged with Attempted Murder following a Shooting

A Galesburg man is in jail after turning himself in to the Galesburg Police Department, charged with Attempted Murder. The Galesburg Police Department responded to a report of a shooting of a moving vehicle on March 21, 2024, around 3 PM. Officers located the victim and found a grazing gunshot wound to his left shoulder. He was treated at the scene. An arrest warrant was obtained on March 22nd for 21-year-old Tomas A. Rubio. Rubio turned himself in to the Galesburg Police Department on Friday afternoon. Rubio was charged with Attempted Murder and booked into the Knox County Jail, where he remains detained at this time.

“The success of this investigation was made possible through the coordinated efforts of several agencies.” The Galesburg Police Department was assisted by the Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, the Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Service, the Galesburg Fire Department, the Kewanee Police Department, and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
