Galesburg Native Named New Finance Director for the City of Galesburg

The City of Galesburg welcomes Jennifer O’Hern as its new Director of Finance. Jennifer O’Hern, raised in Galesburg, steps into the role with an impressive 16 years in governmental finance under her belt. Her career has notably included a significant position as District Accountant for Moline-Coal Valley CUSD 40. O’Hern’s appointment, starting June 17, 2024, marks a homecoming filled with anticipation as she plans to leverage her extensive experience to benefit her hometown’s financial management and community growth. “I am thrilled to be back in my hometown and thankful for this opportunity,” said Jennifer O’Hern. “I look forward to working with the Galesburg team and making a meaningful contribution to the city and its residents.” Her appointment is seen as a strategic move to infuse local governance with proven expertise and a deep understanding of community needs.

“We are very excited to have Jennifer O’Hern joining the team as the Director of Finance for the City of Galesburg,” said Eric Hanson, City Manager. “The Finance Director plays an integral role in our organization, providing leadership and accounting expertise throughout the budget process, as well as leading an excellent team of staff to ensure all daily utility billing and accounting services are executed.
