The Galesburg Police Department in Illinois has initiated a focused traffic safety campaign, thanks to a grant they received under the Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program for fiscal year 2024. From September 20th to the 30th, officers will intensify enforcement with a special emphasis on child passenger safety. This initiative aims to significantly reduce traffic-related accidents and boost overall road safety by ensuring that all child passengers are secured properly. The department is dedicated to educating drivers and enforcing laws to protect the community’s youngest members during their travels.
“We’re pleased to receive this grant to step up our road safety efforts with the goal of saving lives,” said Lt. Bryan Anderson. “Our mission is to make travel safer through directed, proactive patrols and to stop, cite, and arrest those who choose to violate traffic laws.”
