January 5
Officer met with a subject at the Galva PD to answer questions about obtaining a FOID card.
Officer met with a subject at the Galva PD to return a license plate that was found a couple days earlier.
Officer was dispatched to West Division Street and SW 10 th Ave to check for a sinkhole in the roadway. Officer placed barricades over a low area.
Officer was dispatched to Route 34 just east of town to check on an abandoned vehicle along the roadway. Officer did place a 72 hour tow tag on the vehicle.
Officer, along with Stark Co Medic and the fire department, were dispatched to a residence on SW 7 th Street for a medical emergency involving a subject not breathing.
January 6
Officer spoke to a subject by telephone about a civil property dispute.
Officer spoke to a subject by telephone to take a report of a violation of an order of protection. A report was forwarded to the State’s Attorneys office for consideration of charges.
Officer was dispatched to assist Henry Co with a motorist assist on Route 34 east of town.
While patrolling, officer noticed a train that stopped and blocked every Galva crossing for nearly an hour. BNSF was contacted and is investigating the reason.
Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of NW 1 st Ave for a verbal domestic disturbance.
January 7
Officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of North Center Ave for a semi tractor trailer that had driven off the roadway and was parked in a yard. Several co-workers were able to get vehicle back onto roadway and arrangements were made with property owners to fix yards.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 100 block of SE 6 th Street, Patrick Hammons, 69, Galva, was arrested for driving while license suspended and cancelled, speeding and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of NE 1 st Ave for a loose dog complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the north edge of town to watch for two vehicles that appeared to have a road rage incident. Officer was not able to locate.
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of SW 3 rd Street for a 9-1-1 open line complaint. It was determined to be a mis dial.
January 8
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SE 6 th Street for an attempted phone scam complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of NW 2 nd Street to assist a citizen with a delivery that was dropped off at wrong residence.
Officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of SE 2 nd Street to recover a credit card that had been left there. The owner was contacted and the card was returned.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of NW 4 th Ave to speak to a resident about a city ordinance violation involving overweight vehicles on posted roads.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of NW 4 th Ave to assist a motorist that locked their keys inside a car. Henry Co was able to unlock it.
Officer met with a resident at the Galva PD to drop off a freedom of information act request form.
January 9
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of SE 2 nd Street for an activated burglar alarm. It was determined to be a false alarm.
Officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of SW 2 nd Street for a landlord / tenant dispute.
Officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of SW 2 nd Street for a theft complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of SE 1 st Street to assist a citizen.
Officer assisted Knox and Henry Co with a vehicle pursuit that came into Galva from the west. Several subjects ran on foot from vehicle and all were caught and arrested. The arrestees were all taken to Knox Co.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NW 4 th Street to assist an elderly citizen having phone issues.
January 10
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4 th Street to remove an unwanted subject.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of SE 4 th Street for a dog bite report. The dog bit it’s owner and was found to be up-to-date on all of it’s shots.
Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of NW 4 th Street for a 9-1-1 open line complaint. It was determined to be a medical call. Stark Co Medic was paged to respond.
January 11
Officer met with a subject at the Galva PD to drop off a freedom of information act request form.
Officer assisted Knox Co with a traffic stop on the south edge of town.
Officer assisted Henry Co with a single vehicle accident with injuries on South Co Road just east of town.
