April 14, 2025 through April 20, 2025

April 14
Officer was dispatched to the north edge of town to watch for a reckless driver after a traffic complaint.
Officer located the vehicle, but was not able to establish probable cause for a traffic stop.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 200 block of North Center Ave, William Barnes, 40, Galva, was arrested for driving while license suspended. He was taken to the Galva PD for processing and later released with a required court date.
Officer assisted Woodhull PD with attempting to locate a Galva resident that owned property in Woodhull also.
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of SW 5 th Street for a domestic disturbance.

April 15
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of NE 5 th Street to assist a motorist that had locked keys inside a vehicle. They were referred to Tarletons for assistance.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NW 2 nd Ave for a low speed vehicle inspection. The permit was denied due to subject not having a valid drivers license, which is a requirement.
Officer was dispatched to the 1100 block of SE 2 nd Street for a 9-1-1 hang up call. It was determined to be a mis dial.
Officer met with a sex offender at the Galva PD to register a new Galva address. A completed copy was sent to Henry Co for LEADS entry.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SE 4 th Street for a suspicious vehicle complaint. It was determined to be a family member.

April 16
As the result of an interview at the Fulton Co Jail, the driver of a vehicle pursuit last week was issued several citations. Billy Hammond, 39, Galva, was arrested for aggravated fleeing and eluding, speeding more than 35mph over the speed limit, and three separate stop sign violations. He has pending charges in Fulton and McDonough Co also. He was given copies of his citations and told of his required court date.
Officer went to several houses to follow up on ordinance letters they had received a few weeks back. Several are making progress in the clean-up efforts.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4 th Street for a verbal disturbance. The offender appeared to be suffering a mental health crisis.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NE 6 th Ave for a solicitor complaint. The subject did not have a permit and was asked to cease his activities.

April 17
Officer was notified about a vehicle repossession that was taking place in the 100 block of SE 8 th Ave.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of NW 1 st Street for a neighbor dispute.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of NE 4 th Street for a loose dog complaint.

April 18
Officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of SE 2 nd Street for a loose dog complaint. It was returned to it’s owner.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of SE 5 th Ave to recover an abandoned bicycle. It was taken to impound.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of NE 8 th Ave for a solicitor complaint. A subject was located and did not have a valid permit.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of NW 4 th Street for an ongoing scam complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 2 nd Street to check the welfare of children sitting in the vehicle. A parent returned soon after and was educated about leaving children in a vehicle.
Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of North Center Ave for a traffic complaint involving teenagers riding scooters on the roadway. They were located and warned to stay off the roadway.
Officer assisted the Knoxville PD with locating a stolen vehicle and vehicle parts in the Galva area. The stolen items were all located. Charges are pending through Knox Co.
Officer assisted Kewanee PD with attempting to locate a suicidal subject. The subject was located in Kewanee unresponsive but breathing.

April 19
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 9 th Ave for a verbal domestic disturbance.
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of NE 3 rd Street for a verbal domestic disturbance.
While patrolling, officer recognized a wanted subject driving in the 400 block of SE 1 st Street. As the result, Lucas Gustafson, 39, Galva, was arrested on a Henry Co warrant for failing to appear on charges of resisting a police officer and domestic battery. This was a no bond warrant. He was taken to the Henry Co Jail.
Officer was dispatched to the women’s restroom at Wiley Park for a sewer back-up complaint. Officer contacted a water department employee. The complaint was unfounded.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 900 block of SE 2 nd Street, Christi Knapp, 45, Onaska, WI, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released with a required court date.

April 20
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SE 3 rd Street for a complaint involving harassment through social media.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SW 4 th Ave for a loose cat complaint. Officer checked the area, but was not able to locate it.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NE 6 th Ave for a verbal domestic disturbance between two siblings.
Officer dealt with many complaints of storm related damage and debris from a strong thunderstorm that passed through Galva.
