October 20
Officer met with a resident at the Galva PD to discuss a civil stalking / no contact order.
Officer was dispatched to the intersection of James B Young Road and NW 3 rd Ave for a loose dog complaint. The owner was able to pick the dog up and took it back home.
Officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the 300 block of SE 2 nd Street. The suspect vehicle fled and disobeyed several stop signs before coming to a stop in the 400 block of SW 1 st Ave. After resisting officers, the driver was taken into custody. As the result, Richard Ortiz, 30, Galva, was arrested for aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude the police, felony driving while license revoked, obstructing a police officer, and two counts of disobeying a stop sign. He was taken to the Henry Co Jail.
October 21
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of NE 1 st Ave for a criminal damage to property complaint after a baseball was reportedly thrown through a window at a residence.
October 22
Officer was dispatched to the east edge of town after a reckless driver was reported on Route 34 near Black Hawk College. The suspect vehicle did not come to Galva.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Commercial Street for an abandoned vehicle complaint. The vehicle was tagged with a 7 day tow away warning sticker.
Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of NE 3 rd Street for a neglected animal complaint. The owner was contacted and advised the animals were being taken care of and were leaving in the next couple days.
October 23
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of NE 3 rd Street for a stalking / suspicious vehicle complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of SW 3 rd Street for a loose dog complaint. Officer was not able to locate.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of NE 1 st Street for a 9-1-1 hang up call. It was determined to be a small child playing with a phone.
October 24
As the result of a traffic stop in the 600 block of South Center Ave, Colby Murphy, 30, Galesburg, was arrested for driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured vehicle, and having expired registration. He was released with a required court date.
Officer, along with the fire dept, were dispatched to Route 34 several miles east of Galva for a vehicle fire.
Officer met with a subject at the Galva to retrieve a wallet that was found and turned in. It was returned to it’s owner.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 300 block of South Center Ave, Mason Senders, 26, Bradford, was arrested for driving while license revoked, operating a vehicle when registration suspended for mandatory insurance, having expired registration, and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of SE 2 nd Ave for a theft complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of West Division Street to check on a suspicious person walking. It was determined to be a motorist assist after the subject ran out of fuel.
Officer assisted Henry Co with serving a civil paper in the 400 block of SW 4 th Ave.
Officer was dispatched to the SW 6 th Ave railroad tracks for a crossing arm malfunction. BNSF was contacted for repairs.
October 25
Officer was dispatched to Route 34 about 2 miles west of town to assist a motorist that had broken down.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 2 nd Street for a parking complaint / abandoned vehicle.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Commercial Street for a complaint involving a subject that locked their keys inside. Henry Co was able to unlock it.
Officer was dispatched to the north edge of town to watch for a reckless driver coming towards Galva.
Officer located the vehicle, but did not observe any violations.
October 26
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of NW 4 th Street for a loose dog complaint. Officer could not locate.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of NE 2 nd Street for a 9-1-1 open line complaint. It was determined to be a child playing with a phone.
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of NW 3 rd Ave for a juvenile complaint involving trespassing.
Officer was dispatched to the north edge of town on County Highway 5 for a suspicious person complaint.
While patrolling, officer was flagged down by a subject in the 00 block of SW 4 th Street that had locked her keys inside the vehicle.

Russell Robert, 32, Kewanee, was issued a citation for speeding in the 800 block of North Center Ave.
October 26
Daniel Berchtold, 48, Wyoming, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1100 block of SE 2 nd Street.
