December 9
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NE 5 th Street for an aggressive and loose dog. As the result, Bradley Yelm, 36, Galva, was issued an administrative warning ticket (AWT) for allowing a dog to run at large.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Commercial Street to check on an injured subject. After responding, officer learned the elderly subject had fallen and had facial injuries. Stark Co Medic was dispatched for treatment / transport.
Officer met with a Galva sex offender to change their address on the registration. The form was completed and emailed to Henry Co for LEADS entry.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 600 block of SE 2 nd Street, Nathan Appler, 36, Dewitt, IA, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration suspended for mandatory insurance. He was released with a required court date.
December 10
Officer was dispatched to assist the Galva Street Dept with attempting to remove a disabled vehicle so they could do tree work. The vehicle was inoperable. A city ordinance warning letter was sent to the vehicle owner.
Officer met with a resident at the Galva PD so the subject could surrender his FOID card and complete the required paperwork.
Officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of North Center Ave for a reckless driving complaint. The suspect vehicle was not located.
Officer was dispatched to a residence on NE 1 st Ave to check the welfare of a subject there. The subject was fine.
Officer was conducting stationary radar patrol on North Center Ave. A N/B vehicle drove past officer at a high rate of speed and accelerated rapidly. Officer began to pursue the suspect vehicle north of town, but decided to terminate for safety reasons.
December 11
Officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of NW 5 th Ave for an activated residential burglar alarm. It was determined to be a false alarm.
Officer assisted the fire department with a call about one mile south of town involving a carbon monoxide detector going off. It was determined to be a faulty alarm.
Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of NW 4 th Ave for a disturbance involving a group of juveniles trying to fight others. The situation was defused.
December 12
As the result of a traffic stop in the 300 block of Market Street, Angelo Dandrea, 87, Galva, was arrested for operating a vehicle while having a cancelled drivers license. He was issued a citation with a required court date and then given a ride home.
Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of NW 1 st Ave for a 9-1-1 open line complaint. It was determined to be children playing with a parent’s phone.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 100 block of Market Street, Jennifer Simpkins, 39, Rock Island, was arrested for driving while license revoked. She was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to the east edge of town to watch for a pickup truck that was reportedly driving recklessly several miles east of town. Officer was not able to locate.
Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of SE 4 th Street for a reckless driver / speeding complaint. Officer was not able to locate suspect vehicle.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 500 block of SE Industrial Ave, Aylayna Simmons, 18, Oneida, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration suspended for mandatory insurance. She was released with a required court date.
December 13
As the result of a traffic stop in the 900 block of SE 2 nd Street, Timothy Eland, 62, Chillicothe, MO, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration suspended for mandatory insurance. He was released with a required court date.
As the result of a traffic stop in the 900 block of SE 2 nd Street, Michael Gustafson, 56, Galva, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration suspended for mandatory insurance. He was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to the 500 block of SE Industrial Ave for an illegal dumping complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of NW 7 th Street for a landlord / tenant dispute.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 4 th Street for a disturbance complaint.
December 14
As the result of a traffic stop in the 900 block of SE 2 nd Street, James Purnell, 41,Homewood, was cited for operating an vehicle when registration suspended for mandatory insurance violation and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released with a required court date.
Officer was dispatched to the 00 block of SW 2 nd Street for an unruly customer complaint.
Officer was dispatched to the 100 block of NE 9 th Street for a verbal domestic disturbance.
December 15
Officer was dispatched to the 900 block of West Division Street for a subject screaming and yelling. The subject appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Front Street to check the welfare of a subject.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of SW 3 rd Street for a 9-1-1 open line call. The caller was suffering from a mental health crisis.
Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of NW 3 rd Ave for a 9-1-1 open line call. It was determined to be a mis dial.
