In Geneseo, severe ice conditions have forced the cancellation of all outdoor activities for the 2024 Christmas Walk. This difficult decision was made in consultation with the City of Geneseo and Emergency Services leaders to prioritize public safety amid hazardous weather. However, the parade has been rescheduled to next Saturday, December 21st, with an updated route to be announced. All indoor activities will continue as planned, but attendees are encouraged to verify the status of events due to ongoing weather concerns. Stay tuned for further updates on indoor events and the new parade arrangements.
“Snow and rain are one thing, but ice is a whole different beast. The safety and well being of our guests, volunteers and staff trumps everything else,” said Zack Sullivan. “Y’all know how much I love this event and this is a gut wrenching decision for me to make. Our small businesses and community look forward to this day and unfortunately, the weather will win the day this time. The only silver lining here is knowing that a call like this could potentially save a lot of people from hassle or worse, possible injury with all of this ice.”
