“Random Acts of Kindness Week is a meaningful opportunity for our schools to pause and reflect on the power of simple, thoughtful actions,” said Dr. Laura Delgado, Superintendent. “When our students and staff choose kindness—whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or an inclusive gesture—they help create a culture where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported.”

As part of Random Acts of Kindness Week, students and staff are encouraged to show compassion not only to others but also to themselves. Activities include sharing positive messages, expressing gratitude, and taking time for personal well-being. District leaders say these initiatives help foster a sense of belonging and respect among students, reinforcing the importance of inclusivity. By celebrating acts of kindness—large and small—Geneseo schools aim to create a supportive atmosphere where everyone feels valued and connected.

“In Geneseo, we believe that strong schools are built on positive relationships,” said Dr. Delgado. “By intentionally focusing on compassion, empathy, and gratitude throughout this week, we are reinforcing the values that strengthen our five buildings every day and preparing our students to lead with character both inside and outside the classroom.”

This week at Southwest Elementary, students and staff are joining together for Kindness Week, celebrating the power of gratitude and encouragement. The festivities began as the school community expressed appreciation for support staff, recognizing their daily contributions. Each day, fifth grade announcers are sharing simple but meaningful ways everyone can show kindness. Teachers are on the lookout for students “caught being kind,” rewarding them with kindness hearts entered in daily prize drawings running through Friday. Staff are also spreading positivity, sharing compliments in a nod to their popular Christmas Tree Compliments tradition. Classrooms have the option to engage in additional kindness activities throughout the week.

Northside Elementary is set to host Kindness Week with a spirited Kindness Olympics, highlighting the importance of compassion and community. The festivities kick off with an Opening Ceremonies video, where a student will symbolically “pass the torch” to ignite the week’s activities. Throughout the event, students and staff don red, white, and blue while participating in two key challenges: the Kindness Jar, rewarding classrooms with pompoms for observed acts of kindness, and the Kindness Sticky Wall, where thoughtful gestures are proudly displayed. The week wraps up on Friday with an Awards Ceremony, as grade levels sport their class colors for a joyful celebration of kindness.

Millikin Elementary is launching a weeklong celebration focused on spreading kindness throughout its school community. Students are invited to share stories and drawings on a Kindness Wall, highlighting moments when they experienced or showed kindness. Staff will be on the lookout to “catch” students in kind acts, rewarding them with Kindness Hearts, which can be submitted for special daily recognition. Classrooms can also take part in Kindness BINGO to inspire even more thoughtful gestures. Both students and staff have the chance to acknowledge one another through Staff Shout-Outs, creating an environment filled with appreciation, celebration, and joyful connections.

Geneseo Middle School is highlighting Kindness Week with a lineup of creative activities to build a stronger, more positive campus community. Each day features school-wide kindness initiatives, starting with a “Choose Kindness” video and Kindness Bingo in homerooms. Midweek, students reflect and share kind words on the cafeteria bulletin boards. Special kindness projects and outdoor games round out the week, with uplifting “Be Happy” music filling lunch periods. Themed dress-up days—from pajama Monday to heart-filled Friday—invite everyone to join in, while staff members exchange kind notes to foster appreciation. The goal: encourage connection, empathy, and lasting school spirit.

At Geneseo High School, students are starting the day with positivity as the school rolls out a new initiative focused on kindness. Each morning’s announcements now feature a message encouraging random acts of kindness, aiming to uplift both students and staff. To reinforce this caring environment, every student will find a card with an inspiring message and a Jolly Rancher waiting on their desk. The effort is designed to remind students that their teachers and administrators value their well-being, fostering a supportive atmosphere throughout the school community.
