A Girard man is in the Putnam County jail after a traffic stop connected him to a burglary of a closed power plant. A brief investigation into a burglary of the closed Illinois Power Plant Facility in rural Hennepin led to the arrest of 45-year-old Caleb J. Prose on March 16, 2024. At the time of his arrest, Prose was on pretrial release from Montgomery County for a burglary at a closed power plant in February 2024, which led to the recovery of approximately $500,000 in property. Prose will remain detained at the Putnam County Jail following a detention hearing on March 17, 2024. However, Defense Attorney Bolin has filed a motion to reconsider pretrial detention. A first appearance is scheduled for March 21, 2024, at 10 AM.
