Henry and Stark Counties Ask People to Stay Home

Both Henry and Stark County Sheriff’s Offices are asking people to stay home unless there is an emergency and allow road crews to work on clearing drifted roads and dig out abandoned vehicles. Stark County issued a Snow Emergency on Saturday morning, January 13, 2024, and asked everyone to stay home because many roads were impassable due to drifting and the continuing wind.  Roads remain bad on Saturday afternoon but road crews are working as fast as they can to clear the roads.  City of Kewanee crews have been working on roads since 3 AM. The Stark County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post:

“*SNOW EMERGENCY FOR STARK COUNTY*

*Emergency travel only*
We are requesting that no one travels unless it is an emergency.

Plows and Tow trucks have stopped operating for the safety of crew members.

Road Deputies are unable to reach parts of the county due to impassable roads.

If you must get out, and you get stranded please stay in your vehicle. Do not get out in the the cold, as this can make you lose your sense of direction and disoriented. It would also make it harder to find you.

Please stay home for your safety, and the safety of others.“

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office also asked people to travel only for emergencies.  Watch dash cam video here from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office squad car near Cambridge overnight.
