SHARE NOW

The full-service Disaster Recovery Center in Henry County is set to transition into a Disaster Support Facility on October 25, 2024. The in-person FEMA Disaster Recovery Center is set to close on Friday at 7 PM. This change aims to continue aiding those affected by the severe July storms. The facility, located at 4424 US Highway 34, will begin support operations on October 28th. FEMA, along with Illinois and County authorities, will provide walk-in services from Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Residents can seek help and process their applications directly at the new center, ensuring ongoing support for the community’s recovery efforts.

“Although operating at a reduced capacity, FEMA will continue to maintain a limited presence at the Disaster Support Facility and will continue to help residents apply for assistance, update application information and ensure they have access to speak with a FEMA specialist in-person.“

Henry County residents have until November 19, 2024, to apply for FEMA and SBA aid from the July storms.  FEMA aid is limited, so the Small Business Administration provides low-interest loans to cover the gap between insurance and FEMA aid for business and residential properties. The low-interest loans can be spread out over years to allow lower payments, and you don’t make the first payment for 12 months.

”There are many types of assistance available and tailored to your unique situation. Your recovery may differ from that of friends or neighbors, but FEMA is committed to ensuring applicants receive the assistance they’re eligible for. Once you apply, it’s crucial to update your application if there are any changes to addresses or contacts and to submit any documentation or additional information that FEMA requests.”

To apply without visiting a center, visit DisasterAssistance.govdownload the FEMA mobile app, or call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. If you use a relay service, such as video relay telephone service, or others, give FEMA your number for that service when you apply.
