Authorities in Henry County responded to a rural Geneseo property on November 9, following a report of a suspicious individual inside a livestock building. Deputies arrived to find the suspect had already left the scene. Their investigation later led to the arrest of 64-year-old Mark Leihsing of Colona. Leihsing is charged with Burglary (Class 2 Felony) and Sexual Acts with an Animal (Class 4 Felony). At his detention hearing on November 12th, the State’s Petition to Deny Pretrial Release was denied. Leihsing was released on GPS monitoring. He is ordered to have no contact with livestock, is not allowed to have companion animals, and has 24 hours to rehome any companion animals. He is ordered to obtain a mental health evaluation. A Preliminary Hearing is scheduled for November 17th at 1 PM. Law enforcement officials have stated that no additional details will be made public at this stage. As always, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
