The Henry County Senior Citizens Center in Kewanee celebrated its 50th Anniversary today with an open house from 1 PM to 3 PM. Some pictures from the open house re posted below.  A large crowd of people showed up to honor the senior center and all the work they do for senior citizens in Henry County.  Guests were treated to fruit, pie, coffee, and lemonade.  Articles from over the years were laid out in the game room for people to read.  The senior center has been in the building on East South Street for about 10 years. The Henry County Senior Citizens Center has prospered under the care of Cassandra Schmoll, who has run the Senior center for 16 years. The Henry County Senior Center delivers over 300 hot meals on weekdays to people who are unable to leave their homes or afford a hot meal.  The senior citizens center also serves meals at the facility on weekdays, and an evening meal on Tuesdays.

The Henry County Senior Citizens Center is always in need of financial and volunteer help to provide services to the citizens of Henry County. They had to replace the air conditioning unit last year for $85,000, and they still owe around $23,000.  Of you would like to make a donation, drop off or mail a donation: Henry County Senior Citizens Center, 200 East South Street, Kewanee, Illinois 61443.
