Henry County Sheriff’s Office Holiday Traffic Enforcement Campaign

SHARE NOW

As the holiday cheer fills the air, Henry County gears up for safety with a rigorous enforcement campaign against impaired driving. Starting December 13th through January 2nd, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Transportation, launches the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Drive High, Get a DUI” initiatives. Sheriff Verscheure encourages all celebrating to secure a sober ride home, emphasizing that safety should be everyone’s priority. The campaign, supported by federal funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, aims to ensure that holiday festivities do not lead to regrettable incidents on the road.

“This season, let’s make safety our shared priority,” said Sheriff Verscheure. “If you plan to drink or use impairing substances, plan ahead for a sober ride home. Driving impaired isn’t just dangerous – it’s unacceptable. We’ll be out in full force, and no excuses will be accepted.”

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office urges everyone to take the following simple steps to prevent impaired driving:

  • Plan ahead: Designate a sober driver, use public transportation, or arrange for a ride-sharing service.
  • Report dangers: If you spot an impaired driver, pull over safely and contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office or other local law enforcement.
  • Be a hero: Stop a friend from driving impaired by taking their keys and helping them get home safely.
  • Buckle up: It’s your best defense against impaired drivers.
