Emergency services, including the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and Henry Fire Department, are currently addressing a potential grain silo structure failure at the River Valley Coop Grain Elevator on Illinois Highway 29 in Putnam, following a 911 call for a possible silo collapse at 8:37 AM. The Illinois Department of Transportation has closed the highway between Illinois Highway 18 and the Interstate 180/Highway 29 Kentville intersection. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and follow detour routes set by the Department of Transportation.
