Governor JB Pritzker, in partnership with the Illinois Arts Council, has announced $16.2 million in grant funding for the state’s arts sector. A total of 1,123 artists, organizations, and communities will benefit from the initiative. The grants aim to boost sustainable arts programs, offer employment opportunities for young people, and enhance regional arts efforts across Illinois. State officials emphasize the role of the arts in driving economic development and cultural engagement. Recipients have expressed gratitude, noting that the support will help ensure creative projects remain accessible in both urban and rural communities across the state.

“The arts enrich our lives, our communities, and our culture,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “With key arts funding under attack at the federal level, I’m proud that Illinois is continuously investing in our state’s talented artists, encouraging young people to pursue their passions in the arts sector, and enhancing communitywide access to arts initiatives.”

“These grants are a powerful investment in the artists, arts organizations, and communities of Illinois. By supporting our creative ecosystem, we are fostering innovation, cultural diversity, and economic vitality across the state,” said Nora Daley, Chair of the IAC Board.

“The arts are a cornerstone of Illinois’ identity and economy. This funding not only supports artists and organizations but also enriches our communities and inspires future generations. We are proud to continue our commitment to making the arts accessible to all,” said Joshua Davis-Ruperto, Executive Director of IAC.

Illinois’ creative sector is receiving a major boost, as the Pritzker Administration continues its robust support of the arts. Since 2019, Illinois Arts Council grants have topped $196 million, reflecting a significant increase in funding for artists, organizations, and cultural initiatives statewide. This investment aims to nurture local talent, enhance arts education, and invigorate communities across Illinois.
