In a significant stride toward enhancing community health and safety, the Water Resources Development Act of 2024 (WRDA) has been passed with bipartisan support, including crucial provisions for clean drinking water in Illinois. Congressman Eric Sorensen successfully championed the funding for vital infrastructure projects in Sherrard and Savanna. These projects, soon to be implemented following anticipated presidential approval, include the construction of a new water tower and upgraded filtration systems in Sherrard, along with new drinking water pipes in Savanna. This legislation, critical for updating aging infrastructure, promises to significantly improve the quality of life by ensuring access to safe and clean drinking water.

“Our small hometowns are a special place, filled with families that are working hard to build good livelihoods for their loved ones. And it is our job to make sure they can thrive in healthy communities,” said Sorensen. “I am proud to have secured these projects to deliver clean drinking water for our families. No parent should turn on their faucet to pour their kid a glass of water and worry about the water that is coming out of it. I look forward to the president signing this important legislation so we can help our communities update their aging water infrastructure.”
