The Illinois Department of Public Health is shining a spotlight on its support for the LGBTQIA+ community as part of Pride Month celebrations. Efforts include expanding access to HIV prevention medications, making it easier for individuals to update their birth records, and promoting inclusive language throughout the department. Additionally, gender-neutral restrooms are now available in offices statewide. Officials say these initiatives are designed to foster a safer and more welcoming environment for all residents. The department encourages anyone seeking resources or information about these programs to reach out and take advantage of the expanded support services now available.

“During Pride Month, IDPH is extremely proud to join the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies across Illinois in celebrating the strength we gain through unity and common purpose,” said IDPH Director Dr. Sameer Vohra. “A mainstay of the health of our society is the ability of every resident to be their true and authentic selves. We recognize this at IDPH, and we are proud to partner with and learn from individuals and organizations around the State this month and every month to improve the health and well-being of the LGBTQIA+ community.”
