    Overnight temperatures in the 70s will provide little relief for those without air conditioning.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Illinois State Police Need Help Finding the Vehicle Involved in a Fatal Hit-and-Run

The Illinois State Police (ISP) Zone 1 Division of Criminal Investigation is asking the public for help locating the vehicle involved in the death of a 25-year-old Ottawa man, Jerome Johnson. On May 10, 2024, around 2:30 AM, ISP responded to a traffic crash on Illinois Highway 251, just north of 36th Road in LaSalle County. Jerome Johnson had been involved in an accident and his vehicle was off to the right side of the roadway. Johnson exited his vehicle and walked into the roadway, where he was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop and continued northbound on Illinois 251. Jerome Johnson was declared deceased at the scene.
