The Illinois State Police made a significant drug bust on Interstate 80 following a traffic stop on a semi east of 1600 Street in Henry County on January 18, 2025. Following a probable cause search of the truck, the Illinois State Police arrested 55-year-old Jose J. Guillen from Ontario, California. During a search of the truck, officers discovered over 10 kilograms of suspected cocaine in Guillen’s semitrailer. Guillen faces serious charges, including possession and intent to deliver cocaine, both felonies. The state filed a petition to deny pretrial release, which was granted at a detention hearing on January 22nd. A Preliminary Hearing is scheduled for January 27th at 3 PM.
Jose J. Guillen is charged with Possession of Cocaine (Class 1 Felony), Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine (Class X Felony), and Cocaine Trafficking (Class X Felony).
This incident underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb drug trafficking on major highways. Remember, charges are merely accusations, and Guillen remains innocent until proven guilty.
