    Very cold wind chills as low as 20 to 30 below.

    Portions of north central and northwest Illinois and east central and southeast Iowa.
    WHEN
    Until noon CST today.
    IMPACTS
    The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in 30 minutes or less. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

Introduction to Black Studies at Black Hawk College CEC February 26th to March 6th

The Black Hawk College Community Education Center in Kewanee is offering an Introduction to Black Studies during Black History Month in February.  The four-night class will reflect on the Black experience from 5 to 7 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays from February 26, 2024, to March 6, 2024.  The course costs $39.

Introduction to Black Studies will focus on the 7 Core Areas of Black Studies: Black History, Black Sociology, Black Religion, Black Education, Black Politics, Black Psychology, and Humanities: Black Literature, Art and Music. There will be weekly discussions and writing prompts, as well as a final project.
