RUSHVILLE, IL – The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Spoon River Valley Lodge 427 has announced that they will be co-sponsoring a chili cook-off benefit on Sunday, January 29th from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at The Lipsticked Pig in Rushville.

The benefit will help raise funds to cover medical expenses for Nathan Rauch, a Rushville Police Department K-9 Officer who is currently hospitalized at the University of Missouri Ellis Fischel Cancer Center undergoing intense cancer treatment for T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Nathan and his wife Jacey reside in Rushville, and Nathan is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Spoon River Valley Lodge 427, which is co-sponsoring the chili cook-off.

The competition will include prizes for the best chili, with the public selecting their favorites at $1 per vote. A $5 admission charge includes a meal of chili with all of the fixings. Attendees can also purchase “Nathan Strong” gear and participate in a 50-50 drawing. All proceeds will help to support Nathan and his family.

“Nathan has courageously faced many situations as a police officer, but this is one fight he can’t win alone,” said Spoon River Valley Lodge 427 President Donald “Ike” Hackett. “We encourage everyone in the Rushville area to ‘bring the heat’ in their support of Nathan and his family on January 29th.”
