OSF HealthCare Saint Clare Medical Center has honored Jereen Mercer with the 2024 Sunflower Award. Mercer, an occupational therapy assistant, received recognition for her outstanding service in managing lymphedema, a condition that is often challenging for many patients. Nominated by a patient whom she helped significantly, Mercer’s expertise and dedication highlight the critical role of non-nursing staff in patient care. The Sunflower Award is dedicated to acknowledging those who go above and beyond in their roles, supporting both the health and emotional well-being of their patients. Congratulations to Jereen Mercer for her exemplary commitment to healthcare excellence.
“Jereen was so helpful and so knowledgeable about lymphedema. She taught me so much about how to manage lymphedema in my everyday life. I did have some pain and the massage therapies helped with that, so now I have no pain. It was such a good experience having therapy here.”
“Outstanding nursing care is recognized through the DAISY Award, but there are Mission Partners, like Jereen, who are not nurses, providing extraordinary care. It’s awesome to be able to recognize her with the Sunflower award, she is truly deserving of the honor,” said Scott Hartman, vice president of Support Services.
