MACOMB, IL – Three local agencies want to learn about barriers young adults are facing when looking for a job. Workforce Innovation Board of Western Illinois, Illinois WorkNet Center, and Western Illinois Regional Council (WIRC) are collaborating to host a free Job Search Workshop for young adults in March 2023. The event is open to people ages 18 to 24 who live in western Illinois.

Program officials say the event’s focus is about finding solutions for both job seekers and employers. Workforce representatives will ask about the attendees’ career plans, their job search experience, and the barriers they have encountered when looking for employment. They are also interested in what types of jobs and job benefits are appealing to people in this age group, so that local employers can adapt and attract more applicants. Depending on each person’s specific situation, Workforce may be able to help job seekers with finding a job, getting skills in their desired field, or locating funding programs to help them accomplish their goals.

The Job Search Workshop will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1 at the WIRC office, 133 West Jackson Street, Macomb. People ages 18 to 24 of all income levels are welcome to attend. Free snacks will be provided, and all services are free.

Those who want to attend are strongly encouraged to register by filling out a short online form at wirpc.org/workforce/, calling WIRC at 309-837-2997, or emailing [email protected].

Workforce Innovation Board of Western Illinois, Illinois WorkNet Center, and Western Illinois Regional Council (WIRC) are equal opportunity providers and employers.
