    Very cold wind chills as low as 20 to 30 below.

    Portions of north central and northwest Illinois and east central and southeast Iowa.

    IMPACTS
    The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

The Bureau County Farm Bureau is stirring up excitement with an upcoming class on hearty soups and stews. Scheduled for February 20th at 6 PM, the event will be led by Susan Glassman, a Nutrition and Wellness Educator with the University of Illinois Extension. Participants will learn homemade garnish techniques and how to set up a soup bar for any occasion. Space is limited, so don’t miss out—register by February 14th by calling 815-875-6468. It’s a perfect way to warm up your winter cooking skills and impress family and friends with wholesome, homemade creations.
