Local families are invited to the 2nd Annual Children’s Safety Expo hosted by State Senator Neil Anderson and Representative Travis Weaver on Saturday, August 16th, at Blackhawk College Educational Center in Kewanee. From 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, over 30 local groups will offer hands-on safety demonstrations and family-friendly activities. Attendees can expect “Touch a Truck” with nearly 20 vehicles, face painting, and a chance to watch the MedForce Medical Helicopter land at 10 AM, weather permitting. Special demos include Flip Tops Tumbling and the Kewanee Police K-9 Unit, with prize giveaways—including a bicycle—rounding out the event. Admission is free.
Demonstrations:
- 10 AM – MedForce Medical Helicopter (weather permitting)
- 10:30 AM – Flip Tops Tumbling
- Noon – Kewanee Police K-9 demonstration
- 12:30 PM – Prize drawings & giveaways
