The IHSA Boys State Track and Field competition wrapped up this weekend at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. Kewanee’s two state qualifiers, seniors Tyson Currie and Leocadio Gandarilla, represented their school with determination. Currie competed in the pole vault with a best mark of 12′ 1.5″, finishing in 22nd place. Gandarilla took on the shot put and recorded a distance of 129′ 9″, finishing 27th. Although neither athlete advanced to Saturday’s finals, both demonstrated hard work and pride in reaching the state level. Photos for the event are courtesy of Dr. Chris Sullens.
