    IMPACTS
    Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.

If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.

The Kewanee City Council convened with a full agenda that included discussions on personnel, collective bargaining, and ongoing litigation in a closed session. Following procedural roll calls, council members moved quickly through consent agenda items like payroll approvals, staff reports, and a street closure for the Doghouse event. Highlights in new business included a request to close a street for a cookie fundraiser, an ordinance addressing the regulation of low-speed electronic scooters, the repeal of existing rules on bicycles and skateboards on sidewalks, updates to waterworks rates that were tabled, and consideration of using tax increment financing for infrastructure improvements in the 100 block of Lexington Avenue that was tabled. Other topics included the sidewalk program, city detection initiatives, and the potential waiving of certain liens. Public comments were also part of the session. The City of Kewanee received another grant for lead line replacement for $630,000. The water rate resolution was tabled for the September 3, 2025, hearing at the Henry County Courthouse regarding the mobile home parks.
