Downtown Kewanee is decked out for the holiday season, as 32 planters across the area now feature festive winter arrangements. The project, led by the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce and Blooms By Heartfelt, honors Richard Schieler and celebrates the generosity of local donors and volunteers. Rick Cernovich played a key role by preparing donated Christmas trees for the displays. Organizers hope to expand the decorations with red berries, dogwood twigs, frosted branches, magnolia leaves, and ribbons. Community members interested in supporting the Winter Planter Project can contribute through the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce or reach out to Angie Cervovich on Facebook.
Angie Cernovich said, “These winter arrangements will be used for the next several years. We would like to build on this base of evergreen by adding a flare of color. Springs of red berries, twigs of red dogwood, frosted white branches, magnolia leaves and ribbon could really bring these arrangements to life.”
The Kewanee Chamber of Commerce is located at 113 E. 2nd Street, Kewanee, IL 61443. You can reach out to Mark at the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce office at 309-852-2175 or by email at [email protected]. The chamber office is open from 8 AM to noon, Monday to Friday.
