The Kewanee F/S Basketball team fought hard and came up just short in overtime against LaSalle Peru. Coach Aaron Pratt gave us the breakd0wn on the game and comments on the play of the team.

The Boilermakers found themselves in their second overtime game of the week tonight, losing 65-71 in double OT to the LaSalle-Peru Cavaliers. Isaiah Ince got hot from three late in the game hitting four 3 point baskets and put in four clutch free throws to ensure the Boilers a shot to win the game in OT. He was not alone in fourth quarter scoring as Dayvon Robinson scored 10 of his 20 points.

Boilermaker center Adiel Arjon notched his first double-double of the season with 12pts and 16rebs. Leeam Slover chipped in 10 of his own points and Matthew Huggins rounded out the Boilers scoring with 3.

I couldn’t be happier with our effort tonight. Adiel was huge on the offensive glass and helped keep us in the game, until Isaiah and Dayvon got going in the fourth. Leeam’s 10 points all came at crucial times as well. We got off to a slow start but really battled back and matched the LP physicality. Turnovers and foul trouble in the second overtime was what separated us in the end. Tonight was a great learning experience for a group of guys who get after it every day. Although a win would have been great, coming out of this week 2-1 after playing three quality opponents in four nights, we’re in a great place. I’ve seen a lot of good things out of my guys, and we’re heading in the right direction.

The freshman Boilermakers are now 2-2 on the season and will be back in action Monday December 4th, vs Monmouth-Roseville at 6:00PM.
