Fire Hydrant Testing in Kewanee Begins on July 28th
The Kewanee Fire Department and City Water Division will begin fire hydrant testing Tuesday, July 28th. Testing is expected on Tuesdays and Thursdays from about 9 AM to noon, starting on Kewanee’s southwest side. Initial areas include Page Street from Windmont Park and Beach Street west toward Burlington Avenue, County Highway 41 south to West South Street, and nearby streets around Windmont Park, including Beach and McClure.
Residents may notice temporary rusty or discolored water or changes in water pressure. Officials recommend checking water before doing laundry and running cold water until it clears. The testing helps confirm hydrants are ready for emergencies.
“Hydrant testing allows the City to verify that hydrants are operational, identify maintenance needs, and collect current water-pressure and flow information for emergency purposes. The Fire Department and Water Division appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation while this import work is completed.”
