The Kewanee Fire Department is now offering free Knox Boxes to local businesses, courtesy of a FEMA Fire Prevention and Safety Grant. Knox Boxes are highly secure key boxes mounted outside buildings, giving emergency responders fast, damage-free entry during crises. This initiative aims to save critical time, boost firefighter safety, and minimize property damage. Fire Chief Stephen Welgat highlighted that the program enhances community safety for both businesses and first responders.
