With saturated soils from previous rainfall, these rainfall rates and rainfall amounts will lead to an increased risk for flash flooding.

Kewanee Firefighters Fight Fire in Below-Zero Temps

SHARE NOW

Kewanee Firefighters braved the below-zero temperatures to extinguish a fire at a house on Parkview Drive Monday morning. A witness contacted RegionalMediaNews at 9:43 AM regarding the fire. The witness pounded on the locked front door of the home while a second witness called 911.  The witness reports flames engulfing part of the house with heavy smoke. The residents of the home were not home at the time and no pets were inside the home, according to Officer Tim Bryner of the Kewanee Police Department. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and remained on scene watching for hotspots. The house has been boarded up and arrangements are being made for the residents.  We have reached out to Chief Welgat to confirm that no firefights received injuries relating to the cold temperature.

Tony Ramos is a neighbor and close friend to Daniel, he started a GoFundMe to help the family with immediate needs, such as clothes.
