Residents of Kewanee are advised that hydrant flushing will take place today, May 19th, at the Life Skills Re-Entry Center, likely resulting in rusty water throughout much of the east side. Officials recommend running cold water until it runs clear to avoid bringing sediments into water heaters. There is no boil order in effect at this time. Additionally, the water treatment plant has recently replaced system filters, which may cause further temporary water discoloration affecting the entire town. City officials urge patience during these necessary maintenance activities and assure all water remains safe for use once it clears.
