Kewanee Man Arrested for Arson Thursday Morning

A Kewanee man was arrested after a structure fire overnight was determined to be arson.  The Kewanee Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 300 block of North East Street around 12:45 this morning.  The fire was quickly extinguished and an investigation was conducted by the Kewanee Fire and Police Departments and the Illinois State Fire Marshal.  Around 6:30 AM, Allatonie Housley, 51, was arrested.  He was processed at the Kewanee Police Department and later transported to the Henry County Jail on August 15, 2024, on preliminary charges of Arson, Criminal Damage to Property, and Criminal Trespass to Real Property.

Arson is a Class 2 Felony and carries a potential sentence of 3 to 7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.  All persons are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
