Kewanee Man Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography

A Kewanee man was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography following an investigation by the Kewanee Police Department based on a cyber tip by the Attorney General’s Office and the Illinois Crimes Against Children Task Force. According to the Kewanee Police Department, Matthew C. Derr, 31, was arrested for Possession of Child Pornography (Class 2 Felony) and released with a court date at the Henry County Courthouse on June 3, 2024, at 1 PM. According to the Safe-T Act, possession of child pornography is not a detainable offense.

A Class 2 Felony is punishable by three to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and a fine of $1,000 to $100,000.  All people are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
