The Kewanee Police Department announced the apprehension of Jose M. Valentin in connection with the murder of 31-year-old Jimmy Hollins II.  The Henry County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Valentin with two counts of first-degree murder on March 28, 2024.  An arrest warrant was issued for Valentin and he was arrested by the North Riverside Police Thursday evening.  Jose Valentin will be transported to the Henry County Jail, where he will likely remain until trial.

Jimmy Hollins II was found lying in the road in the 100 block of Houle Street with a gunshot wound to his neck.  Despite life-saving measures performed by Kewanee Police and paramedics, Hollins II was declared deceased at the scene.

The Kewanee Police Department worked with the Henry-Mercer Investigative Task Force, comprised of the ISP Zone 2 Division of Criminal Investigations, Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, Aledo Police Department, FBI, Galva Police Department, Stark County Sheriff’s Office, and ISP Crime Scene Investigators, to conduct interviews, gather evidence, and execute search warrants during the investigation, leading to the arrest of Valentin.
