Kewanee Man Gets 14 Years in Prison for Methamphetamine Delivery

A Kewanee man accepted a plea deal for 14 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) for the delivery of methamphetamine, a Class X felony. Justin Stanley, 19, pleaded guilty to meth delivery in both of his pending cases.  Justin Stanley’s residence was searched because of his connection to the shooting on South Grace Street in Kewanee last year.  Justin Stanley pleaded guilty to count two for Aggravated Delivery of Meth 5<15 grams for case 2023CF15; the remaining counts are dismissed.  He was sentenced to 14 years in IDOC, followed by six months of Mandatory Supervised Release (MSR), credit for time served, fines, and assessments.  Justin Stanley was charged with delivery of meth after the drugs were found in his vehicle during a traffic stop on January 6, 2023.  Stanley pleaded guilty to count one for Meth Delivery 15<100 grams for case 2023CF3; the remaining counts are dismissed.  He was sentenced to 14 years in IDOC (concurrent to 2023CF15), followed by six months of MSR, credit for time served, fines, and assessments.

The search of the residence secured four handguns, one full-length shotgun, one sawed-off shotgun, one 7.62 rifle, approximately 350 rounds of ammunition, multiple firearm magazines, 9.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 1.2 grams of suspected heroin, 104.7 grams of suspected cannabis, packaging materials, digital scales, a heat sealer for drug packaging, police scanners, and a surveillance system.  A 9mm handgun with an extended magazine containing 27 rounds of ammunition was located on a chair with Stanley’s cell phone, where methamphetamine was being packaged.

Justin Stanley was originally charged with Armed Violence (Class X Felony), Five counts of Unlawful Possession of Firearm without a valid FOID card (Class A Misdemeanor), Aggravated Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine (Class X Felony), Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance within 500 feet of a School (Class X Felony), Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine (Class 1 Felony), Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine (Class 2 Felony), Unlawful Possession of Weapon (Class 3 Felony), Unlawful Possession of Cannabis (Class 4 Felony) and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 4 Felony).
