Kewanee Man Headed Back to Prison for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle

A Kewanee man accepted a plea deal on August 6, 2024, that sent him back to the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC). Cole Carlson pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen vehicle and the remaining counts were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.  Carlson was sentenced to four years in the IDOC, with day-for-day credit and credit for 210 days served, followed by one year of Mandatory Supervised Release, $75 plus assessments. Carlson must report to the court within 180 days of release from IDOC to make payment arrangements and update his address. All items held by the Kewanee Police Department related to the case will be released after 30 days.

Cole Carlson was originally charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle (Class 2 Felony), Burglary (Class 3 Felony), Possession of Burglary Tools (Class 4 Felony), Criminal Trespass to Vehicles (Class A Misdemeanor), and Theft <$500 (Class A Misdemeanor).
