Kewanee Man Sentenced to 14 Years in Prison for South Grace Avenue Shooting

A Kewanee man was sentenced to 14 years in prison for his part in the shooting of a residence located in the 100 block of South Grace Avenue on January 19, 2023.  Andrew Luce accepted a plea agreement for a reduced charge for the shooting of a garage converted into a bedroom.  The State added a third count for case 2023CF24 for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm/Occupied Building (Class 1 Felony) and dismissed the original two counts.  Andrew Luce was sentenced to 14 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC), followed by one year of Mandatory Supervised Release (MSR), credit for time served and day-for-day credit, and fines and assessments. For case 2023CF14, Luce pleaded guilty to Delivery of methamphetamine, and count two for possession was dismissed.  Luce was sentenced to 7 years in the IDOC, followed by one year of MSR, credit for time served and day-for-day credit, and fines and assessments.  The two IDOC sentences run concurrent with each other.  Luce must report within 180 days of release to make arrangements for the money owed.

Andrew Luce was originally charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine (Class 2 Felony), Possession of Methamphetamine less than 5 grams (Class 3 Felony) for 23CF14, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm within 1000 Feet from a School (Class X Felony) and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm (Class 4 Felony) for 23CF24.

Police were contacted at approximately 5:14 AM on January 19, 2023, regarding gunshots in the area of Willow Street and South Grace Avenue. At the scene, officers confirmed that multiple gunshots had been fired at a residence in the 100 block of South Grave Avenue. Patrol Officers, Detectives, and Crime Scene Technicians at the scene found evidence of 13 shots that were fired at the home. Two people inside the home at the time were unharmed.
