A Kewanee man accepted a plea deal for arson of a building in the 300 block of North East Street in Kewanee. Allatonie Housley was arrested on August 15, 2024, after the investigation into the fire determined the fire to be arson, and Mr. Housley was identified as the suspect. Housley pleaded guilty to Arson and was sentenced to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC), with day-for-day credit, followed by one year of mandatory supervised release, a $500 fine, plus assessments. The remaining counts are dismissed per the agreement.
Housley will receive credit for 165 days served in the Henry County Jail. Housley is to report within 180 days of release from prison to make payment arrangements.
Allatonie Housley was originally charged with Arson/Real/Personal Property>$150 (Class 2 Felony), Criminal Damage to Property $500-10K (Class 4 Felony), and Criminal Trespass to Land (Class B Misdemeanor).
The Kewanee Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 300 block of North East Street around 12:45 AM on August 15th. The fire was quickly extinguished, and an investigation was conducted by the Kewanee Fire and Police Departments and the Illinois State Fire Marshal. Around 6:30 AM, Allatonie Housley, 51, was arrested. He was processed at the Kewanee Police Department and later transported to the Henry County Jail on August 15, 2024, on preliminary charges of Arson, Criminal Damage to Property, and Criminal Trespass to Real Property
