A Kewanee man is facing decades in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) following an open plea on March 10, 2025. William Borsch testified at the murder trial against Rashaan Strawder on March 27th, hoping to receive a favorable sentence for his testimony. Judge Daulton said even though Borsch is a “jailhouse snitch,” he found his testimony credible because Borsch had details that were consistent with the injuries Baby D sustained that caused her death. Judge Daulton found Rahsaan Strawder guilty on the charges related to shaken baby, in part, due to Borsch’s testimony. A sentencing hearing for Mr. Borsch is scheduled for April 10, 2025, at 2 PM.

William Borsch pleaded guilty to counts one and three for case 2022CF44, count one in case 2023CF130, count two for case 2021CF394, and count one for case 2022DV2. Case 2022CF54 is dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

On February 10, 2022, officers responded to Lyle School for a child with facial injuries. Borsch was the boyfriend of the mother of the child, who said that Borsch had hurt him. The child suffered bruises on his back, cheek, eye, temple, and arm and had blood visible on his ear. During a search of the residence, officers found drugs that allegedly belonged to Borsch.

William Borsch was originally charged with the (1) Manufacture/Delivery of 15-100 grams of Heroin (Class X Felony), (2) Possession of Cocaine 15-100 grams (Class 1 Felony), and (3) Aggravated Battery of a Child under the age of 13 (Class 3 Felony) for case 22CF44. (1) Obstruct Justice/Destroy Evidence (Class 4 Felony) and (2) Violate Bail Bond/Family Member (Class A Misdemeanor) for case 22CF54.  Domestic Battery/Bodily Harm (Class A Misdemeanor) for case 22DV2.  (1) Violate Order/Prior Domestic Battery (Class 4 Felony) and (2) Violate Order Protection (Class A Misdemeanor) for case 23CF130.  (1) Theft <$300 (Class 4 Felony) and (2) Retail Theft <$300 (Class A Misdemeanor) for case 21CF394.
