The Kewanee Park District has announced a new policy at Windmont Park aimed at improving safety and preserving park grounds. Effective immediately, all devices—such as scooters, bikes, golf carts, rollerblades, and skateboards—are not allowed on playing surfaces inside Windmont Park. The decision was made following damage to the new basketball/pickleball courts from motorized vehicles. Only manually propelled vehicles are permitted on sidewalks, and pedestrians are given priority on all walking paths at all times. This decision follows ongoing concerns over reckless behavior and damage to park facilities. Residents are encouraged to report any violations to the Kewanee Police Department with detailed descriptions. Additional parks are now under review, with more updates expected.
