Skeletal remains found in a waste collection tank in Northeast Park are human.
Authorities have confirmed that skeletal remains discovered at Northeast Park are human after an autopsy on May 29. Preliminary findings reveal the remains belong to an unidentified adult. Forensic anthropology experts will be brought in next to aid in identification, while investigators pursue dental records for further comparison. The Kewanee Police Department is calling on anyone with information that could assist in this case to contact their Investigations Division at 309-853-1911. Updates will be shared as the investigation progresses, and law enforcement continues efforts to determine the identity and circumstances surrounding the discovery at Northeast Park.
The skeletal remains were discovered by workers emptying a restroom waste tank at Northeast Park shortly after 3 PM on May 27th.
