Deputy Chief Mike Minx of the Kewanee Police Department is being spotlighted for his pivotal role in multidisciplinary teams tackling tough cases involving child offenses. He emphasizes the importance of partnerships between law enforcement and organizations like Braveheart Children’s Advocacy Center. These collaborations ensure that children in distress receive needed support while building strong cases against offenders. Minx finds motivation in delivering justice and aid to affected children, highlighting the teamwork with Braveheart as essential in focusing on child support and prosecutorial preparedness. Such dedication showcases the impact of community and professional unity in addressing critical societal issues. A Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) comprises the people who work cases with Freedom House, including law enforcement, DCFS, medical teams, and mental health professionals.

“I really appreciate working with Braveheart because they focus on supporting the children while I’m able to concentrate on the investigation,” said Deputy Chief Minx. “Their team is dedicated to making sure the kids get the help they need, which allows me to focus on building a strong, prosecutable case for the state’s attorney’s office. It’s a great partnership that ultimately helps us deliver justice.”

“I’m motivated by the chance to make a real difference in the lives of kids who’ve been through some of the worst experiences imaginable,” he shared. “Knowing that my work helps get these kids the care they need, while also holding offenders accountable, keeps me driven. The teamwork between law enforcement and organizations like Braveheart makes it possible to give these kids the justice and support they deserve.”

“Working these cases is tough, and the impact it has on me personally can be heavy. But when I see the outcome of a case where a child gets the help they need and the offender is held accountable, it makes it all worth it. The goal is to make sure every child’s voice is heard, and I’m proud to work alongside Braveheart to get them the support they deserve while making sure justice is served.”

“At Braveheart Children’s Advocacy Center, we are grateful for the dedication, professionalism, and compassion of partners like Deputy Chief Mike Minx. His work exemplifies the spirit of our multidisciplinary team (MDT), where collaboration and a shared commitment to children’s wellbeing lead to healing and justice. Deputy Chief Minx’s unwavering dedication inspires us all and serves as a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when law enforcement and advocacy organizations join forces for the most vulnerable members of our community.”
