The Kewanee Police Department recently concluded a traffic safety campaign, resulting in 31 occupant restraint citations and one traffic arrest. The initiative, running from November 22nd to December 2nd, aimed to promote seat belt usage and sober driving. The campaign was supported by federal funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
During the campaign, the Kewanee Police Department reported the following enforcement outcomes:

● 1 other traffic citation.
● 1 traffic arrest.

“We issue tickets to remind drivers and passengers that seat belt use isn’t a suggestion, it’s the law,” said Chief Stephen Kijanowski “This year’s campaign was successful in grabbing people’s attention with highly visible enforcement methods. As always, our goal is a safe community with safe drivers.”
